South Saskatchewan Chess Championship (February 16-18, 2018)

The biggest tournament in the province returns the February Family Day long weekend! This weekend-long event offers an $8,000 prize fund, is FIDE and CFC rated, and your chance to play against some of the best players in Canada.

When: February 16-18, 2018

Where: Regina, SK (Venue TBD)

Prize Fund: $8,000 (Based on 75 entries). Prize fund contains entry fees plus $5,000 sponsorship to be given out as cash prizes (less any expenses).

Time Control: 90 minute + 30 second increment

Format: 5 Round Swiss Tournament

Sections:
Open Section: $80 entry fee - FIDE & CFC rated - 1st place $2,000 Guaranteed
Under 1900 Section: $60 entry fee - CFC rated only
Under 1700 Section: $50 entry fee - CFC rated only

Prizes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place cash prizes awarded every section (see poster for details). Class/age prizes may also be awarded.

Section Eligibility: Anyone may play in the open section, the other two sections are restricted by CFC rating (or other applicable rating).

Byes: One half-point bye is available for rounds 1-4 if requested before Feb 16.

Attendance: Players forfeit their games if they are more than 30 minutes late.

Pre-Registration: Save $10 on your entry fee by pre-registering and paying by Jan 19, 2018! This will also guarantee you a pairing for round one.

Junior Players: Players under the age of 18 receive a $10 discount! This may be combined with the Pre-Registration discount.

Rating: Open section is both CFC and FIDE rated. The reserved sections are CFC rated only. All sections require an active CFC membership. CFC memberships can be purchased onsite at the venue or online through the CFC's website.

$50 for Adults, $30 for College Students with Student ID, $20 for Kindergarten-Grade 12

Prizes:
Prizes are based on entries. The past couple of years, top prize has been trophies and $250 with $150 for runner-up and $100 for top of each class A, B, C, (Top D, E & Unrated), Top Under 1000.
