3rd Annual Bison Fall Open (Cash Prizes)

Keeping the tradition of success! All players welcome for this NDSU Chess Club Sponsored Event.

When: Saturday, December 1, 2018

NDSU Memorial Union (upstairs in the Prairie Rose Room)

Sections
: Rated (USCF membership required, can be purchased at the tournament), and Unrated. Casual players and beginners are encouraged to play in the Unrated section.

Entry Fees: Adult (rated): $25; Adult (unrated): $20; Student (K-college, either section): $15

Registration: Begins at 9:15 AM. Late registration available. A half point bye will be given for round one.

Rounds and Time Control

Rated - 4 rounds, Game/60 min +5 sec delay, swiss pairings; Round Times: 10:15 AM, 12:45 PM or half an hour after completion of round 1, 2:45 PM, and 4:45 PM. Rounds 3 and 4 may start early if possible. Notation required.

Unrated - 5 rounds, Game/30 min +5 sec delay, swiss pairings; Round Times: 10:15 AM, 11:45 AM, 1:15 PM or half an hour after completion of round 2, 2:45 PM, and 4:15 PM.

Please bring your own boards and clocks if possible. Exact Prizes TBD based on number of entrants. Cash and/or trophies for both sections.

The Schroeder Chess Tournament will be a place for all players in 6th to 8th grade who would like to play chess. Everyone is invited no matter what their skill level. The winner and runner-up will each get prizes. Come in Door 2 on the East side of the Schroeder building. No spectators are allowed for noise and distracting purposes. The entry fee will be $10 (please pay with cash). Pay to your school office.

The rules will be as follows

  • You are allowed to get out of your chair 3 times a match
  • The touch-piece rule will not be followed
  • It will be double elimination style
  • Chess clocks will not be used
  • The rest of the rules will be Chess rules from the ND Chess Association
  • All students 6th to 8th grade can come and play
Location: The tournament will be at Schroeder Middle School 800 32nd Ave S Grand Forks, ND 58201 Room 107

2018 Panamerican Seniors & Veterans Chess Championships, December 7-14, 2018 (Enjoy St. Croix’s 80ºF Weather)
